Ms. Murabayashi’s Update – April 22

Greetings from Karuizawa!
After a day of rain on Thursday, we awakened to a very warm and sunny day on Friday.  Of course the weather will continue to be variable, but it’s exciting to see the seasons change, and to know that summer is around the corner!  Finally we can see some GREEN around us 🙂

ISAK-Update1

Here’s a student-submitted photo of the G10 trip to Shimonita last Sunday.  Please be sure to see this post for more information about the trip!

ISAK-Update2

One of our G11 students submitted this photo and description:

"Watching cherry blossom at night has been a special experience for me personally during this ISAK school year, and I really appreciate the opportunity the school gave to students to go out and explore some interesting aspects of Japanese culture, although we live far away from the central town and have some transporting limitation. I enjoyed the windy atmosphere of the evening, the colorful combination of lights and flowers while my friends were surrounding around me, as we spent a great time running around like kids and the garden turned itself into some kind of fairy land. The photo above was from the 花見 we had few weeks ago."

The Community Building Group (CBG) organized a workshop to help realize unconscious bias regarding gender in the ISAK community. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the workshop and we hope they learned something from it!

ISAK-Update4
The third quarter progress reports were emailed to students and parents/guardians on Thursday evening.  Please contact me or your child if you haven’t received your child’s report.

Tomorrow a sizable group of students will participate in a formal tea ceremony.  This is a very special event that we’re happy our students can enjoy!
There are no special events during the week next week until Friday, when our first annual Parents’ Weekend begins.  We’ll be sure to share photos and information about this event in next week’s newsletter and/or on our website.
