ISAK Students Sing on TV Shinshu “Fuyu no Saiten” in Nagano

ISAK-Singing-DuoCongratulations to Grade 11 students Yuichiro and Minami for representing ISAK at a regional singing contest in February! The theme of the competition, which was open to university and high school students from schools in Nagano, was “expressing gratitude”.  The singing duo advanced from a preliminary audition to a performance on live TV which was  judged by well-known Japanese comedians.

Yuichiro and Minami were inspired to apply for the contest because they wanted to express their gratitude for the opportunity to study at ISAK. While both students felt performing on live TV was nerve-wracking, they performed very well and the audience and TV staff appreciated their pure tones and beautiful harmonies. It was a rewarding experience, even though the first prize went to an A cappella group from Shinshu University.

The contest was a part of a five hour special live program celebrating the 40th anniversary of TV Shinshu. It was broadcast on Saturday Feb 13.

Watch this video to see Yuichiro and Minami practicing their song outdoors on our snowy sports field, surrounded by beautiful winter scenery and a view of Mt. Asama.

Imagine… if there was an ISAK lower school!

Dear Friends of UWC ISAK,

UWC ISAK is celebrating its 10th anniversary! We are proud of where we’ve come from, and we are excited about the next decade.

At this important milestone, we are wondering – in pursuit of broadening our impact, could an ISAK Lower School be considered as one of the options and would it be feasible? A school that embraces ISAK values and vision for a better future?
