Excursion to Kusatsu – Hot springs and soba ice cream

kusatsu-yubatakeLast weekend, Mr. Iwata (Iwata-sensei) led his first excursion of the school year to Kusatsu (草津町 ). Located about 40 km from ISAK in the Gunma prefecture, Kusatsu is one of Japan’s most famous hot spring resort areas. Students took a dip in the natural, healing hot spring baths at Yubatake, one of the biggest hot springs in town. Afterward, it was time to stroll through town and sample various town treats, including soba flavored ice cream!

By offering trips to different destinations every few weeks, Mr. Iwata hopes to give students many opportunities to experience Japan’s unique culture, history, traditions and food.

Imagine… if there was an ISAK lower school!

Dear Friends of UWC ISAK,

UWC ISAK is celebrating its 10th anniversary! We are proud of where we’ve come from, and we are excited about the next decade.

At this important milestone, we are wondering – in pursuit of broadening our impact, could an ISAK Lower School be considered as one of the options and would it be feasible? A school that embraces ISAK values and vision for a better future?
