Nagano Prefecture Grants ISAK Approval

On January 20, Nagano Prefecture’s Council for Private Schools held discussions on whether to grant ISAK permission to establish a school in Nagano. Based on the discussions, which had been postponed from the meeting in October 2011, ISAK received official permission to establish a boarding school in Karuizawa. Additionally, in December 2011, ISAK received approval from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to become a “special provision school” (tokureikou).

Now that ISAK has received official government approval for establishment, we are ready to embark on the next stage of preparations as we aim to become the first all-residential international high school with fall admissions in Japan, as well as become one of the few schools with “ichijyoukou” (regular Japanese high school) status with classes all held in English.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and encouragement thus far, and we are looking forward to providing you with further updates on ISAK’s progress in the months ahead.
