Guiding Statements

At UWC ISAK Japan, our Guiding Statements serve as the cornerstone of our educational philosophy. While our foundation is rooted in the UWC mission, our statements reflect our commitment to a diverse and inclusive community, responsive to the needs of our learners’ nationalities, cultures, identities, and faith communities. Our Mission and Guiding Principles inform our approach to learning, and our statements reflect our values and drive us forward.

School Motto

One Life
Realize Your Potential
Be a Catalyst for Positive Change

Our school motto reflects our hopes for and dedication to all UWC ISAK Japan students as they journey through one of the most important and exciting times of their lives. As one of the principal founders of the United World Colleges liked to say: There is more in each one of us than we think. At UWC ISAK Japan we try to harness that potential to make positive changes in communities small and large, near and far.

UWC ISAK Japan’s Mission Statement

At UWC ISAK Japan we empower each other to be transformational leaders who explore new frontiers and make a positive impact today and in the future.

We believe not only in the power of education, but also in the power of young people to become catalysts for positive change. We aim to create an environment where students learn to identify what is most important and needed, take action in the face of discomfort, use diversity as a strength, and support others in this practice. Students design and implement projects while with us that exemplify this practice.

UWC Mission Statement: A Shared Mission

UWC makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.

The 18 United World Colleges across the globe all share a common mission, focused on education for peace and sustainability for all. When this attitude is connected to our school motto and school mission, amazing opportunities arise, and powerful actions are initiated.
