Obon is a Buddhist celebration to commemorate one’s ancestors. In many parts of Japan (including Karuizawa) Obon is celebrated in mid-August. Families return to their home towns to pay their respects, join family reunions, and celebrate at their local Obon festival.
Our neighborhood Obon festival has become a back-to-school tradition at ISAK and the local community looks forward to the energy our students bring to this age-old tradition!
