Ms. Murabayashi’s Update – March 18

Greetings from Karuizawa!
It’s been quite a week weather-wise; as you know, earlier in the week we were still surrounded by snow, and slowly but surely it has melted away!  Here are two photos of the sports field (with Mt. Asama in the background) that help demonstrate this evolution:

Today is sunny and bright but a bit chilly, whereas yesterday was sunny and warm.  Typical spring weather!
The third quarter ended on Friday. In celebration, Mr. Jemison bought pizza for the entire school – 55 boxes! Everyone here LOVES pizza and we love Mr. Jemison!

This week is Spring Project Week.  The students have been divided into groups to work on different projects to help the “community,” whether the ISAK community, Karuizawa community, etc.

Other news from around campus…
A few students in the Theatre Club decided to build a performance stage for the school! You can read about the project here. Another group of students volunteered at the Chikumagawa marathon last Friday.

Finally — today we had a “ISAK flea market” using the clothes, new and gently used, that were donated to us from different people.  Seven students helped organize and run the flea market, and it was open to all to do some shopping.  Many students enjoyed looking at the items!  All proceeds are being used to fund activities and events at ISAK.
