Celebrating the Bon Festival (お盆)!

Orientation weekend was capped off with a celebration of the Bon Festival (お盆), which honors the spirits of one’s ancestors. Our students came decked out in their traditional outfits, and it was a real treat to see the diversity of our student body represented in the myriad of costumes and colors! Some of our new students were even helped into yukatas by the current students.

In past years, we were able to participate in the neighborhood Bon Festival, but because of the start date for the school year, we were not able to attend this year. Thanks to student organizers, the spirit of the Bon Festival came to us! We are sure that everyone had an incredibly enjoyable time celebrating and dancing with one another, and look forward to more festivities!
