Ms. Murabayashi’s Update – April 29

Greetings from Karuizawa!

We’ve been all over the map this week in terms of weather. The temperature dropped considerably on Wednesday (with a few snow flurries!), rained all day Thursday, was sunny but cool on Friday, and warmed yesterday and today — today was actually very beautiful and warm!

Our first annual Parents’ Weekend was quite successful by all accounts. We know that many parents could not attend, so we’ll be sharing information and copies of the presentations with all parents over the next few days.

Here are a few more recent highlights from ISAK:

Last Saturday several students signed up to participate in a traditional tea ceremony held at a beautiful tea house in Karuizawa. You can read about their experience here.

The students who have spent their Friday afternoons volunteering at Chubu Elementary School gave a presentation to the teachers last week. Here is a picture of the group with their advisor, Mr. Sgarbossa:

Our IB Computer Science students enjoyed the warm weather with a class outside on the lawn. What a nice way to learn!

And, finally, the Community Building Group (CBG) organized a workshop to help realize unconscious bias regarding gender in the ISAK community. One of the group members, Himanshu, reported that everyone seemed to have enjoyed the workshop and the CBG hopes that all the participants learned something from it.
