Outside ISAK’s cafeteria is a 6m-wide wood deck. This type of deck, or engawa, is often found in traditional Japanese homes, and serves the function of creating a transition between indoors and outdoors. The deck adjacent to the cafeteria serves as a similar role, offering a transition between the main school building and the surrounding environment. The deck will provide students with a sunny outdoor area where they can enjoy talking to faculty and friends, and can also be utilized as a stage for plays and other performances.
