ISAK Applies for IB Candidacy

On March 29, ISAK applied for approval as an International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate school, which will allow ISAK to offer students the IB Diploma Programme.

We recently interviewed Chuck Kite, COO at ISAK, regarding the IB program and the benefits for ISAK students.

“I think the IB program is one of the best ways to prepare students for studying at the university level. The IB curriculum places a strong focus on independent research and writing, two skills that are essential for success not only at the university level, but also in the real world. I firmly believe that students who participate in the IB program are much more prepared than their counterparts for university-level academics.

Moreover, the IB program is an international program recognized by approximately 1800 universities worldwide. This makes it easier for internationally-minded students who have successfully completed the IB Diploma Programme to enroll in universities outside their home countries.

Finally, the IB curriculum is designed in such a way that students achieve both breadth and depth in their studies. Students must take courses in six core fields, but they can also select classes that build on their academic strengths. This kind of holistic program ensures that students acquire a well-rounded education that achieves a balance between the sciences and the humanities.”

IB Diploma Programme Boarding School

What is the International Baccalaureate (IB) program?

The IB program was originally established in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1968 with an aim of bringing peace to the world by educating young people to become intellectually curious and compassionate citizens who are respectful and understanding of other cultures.

The IB program is a holistic program that not only promotes academic excellence but also challenges students to develop critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity, instilling in students a passion for lifelong learning that will serve them well even after the completion of the program. On top of mandatory community service and art activities, IB students have opportunities to create and implement projects on subjects of interest to them. Under the IB system, students in grades 11 and 12 undertake the IB Diploma Programme, a rigorous educational program that prepares students for success at the university level and beyond.
