For this year’s International Negotiation Program (INP), students spent several sessions discussing how culture, history and national interests influence a country’s actions at the negotiating table. The highlight of the INP course was a “crisis in North Korea” simulation, with students taking on the roles of negotiators for one of six countries. Participants learned the importance of intercultural awareness and communication in their negotiating strategies, and discovered how different parties see the same information from a different perspective — insights that can be applied to everyday life.
