Education is the key to creating passionate, resilient and persevering leaders. Project E-Right, a student-led initiative at UWC ISAK Japan, aims to nurture these values by providing opportunities to disadvantaged students whilst celebrating their diversity. We believe that introducing a holistic approach to education will ignite the leadership qualities that are innate within everyone.
UWC ISAK’s Summer School is known to be a catalyst for students to explore their passion to bring positive change to their communities. Some of the Project E-Right members actually attended the Summer School before attending UWC ISAK. Now we are trying to provide this life-changing opportunity to a young Burmese migrant, currently residing in Thailand.
Can you help us fund UWC ISAK Japan Summer School for Myo Paing Paing Min?
Myo is a dedicated student who aspires to be a doctor who will alleviate the suffering of his people. Some of the issues in his community that concern him include discrimination, abuse, inequality, and environmental degradation. He is determined to improve himself so that he can in turn improve his community, and he is hopeful that attending the summer school will be a first step in that direction. Outside of this, Myo is an ordinary kid who enjoys playing the guitar and football, and wants to improve his English.
Attending summer school will be incredibly helpful for Myo, who will benefit greatly from courses such as Design Innovation, where he will be exposed to innovative forms of problem-solving, as well as from being in a diverse, passionate community that is dedicated to the betterment of society. We are confident that this experience will also be greatly beneficial as he seeks out higher education opportunities.
However, even though Myo has the determination and desire to pursue his dreams, a lack of money is a large obstacle in his path. Project E-Right is fundraising in order to help him achieve his goal. Some ways in which we are already doing this is by holding English camps for children in our local community, helping out in local schools and reaching out to donors internationally. So far, we have been able to raise US$1,500. We need your help to reach our goal of US$7,000 to cover Myo’s airfare, passport and visa fees, as well as other summer school expenses.
After summer school, Myo has committed to send us frequent updates on the change he is working on in himself and his community. We are confident that ISAK Summer School will help Myo realize his potential and improve his community and family situation.
Your support will help change Myo’s life.
