Grade 10: Pre-IB Academics & Leadership Training
Our Grade 10 program provides a pre-IB foundation year that lets you develop your leadership and design innovation skills while preparing for the IB Diploma Programme.
Joining UWC ISAK Japan from Grade 10 gives you the opportunity to participate in UWC ISAK Japan’s signature leadership and design innovation programs while building your academic skills to prepare for the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). Similar to students in the IBDP, Grade 10 students participate in community service activities on Friday afternoons and also develop their own projects for Project Week.
In our Pre-IB program, you will enjoy studying in small classes with students from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Small, discussion-based classes give you exposure to many different perspectives and help you develop critical thinking habits and the opportunity to express your views. Group projects and individual presentations are also a common part of the UWC ISAK educational experience, helping you develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
With nearly all teachers living on campus, you can also interact with faculty outside the classroom, and our students are often seen discussing current events or classroom assignments with faculty members during mealtimes or after school.
Grade 10 Courses
All Grade 10 students take the following courses:
In addition to academics, we believe that contributing to the community is an important part of the ISAK experience. All Grade 10 students participate in community service activities every Friday afternoon. Not only do these kinds of service activities support our community, they also provide you with the opportunity to utilize your Japanese skills and communicate with local people of all ages.
