Responding to Covid-19
At UWC ISAK Japan, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students. Beginning in March, we transitioned to an accelerated 2019-20 schedule supported by remote-learning, with May 25th becoming the final day of the current school year.
Check out our blog to see how some of our teachers and students are responding to remote-learning.
Farewell to the Class of 2020
In late March, we held an impromptu farewell ceremony to honor our Class of 2020 students. Although several members of this special class had already departed campus and our ceremony may have lacked some of the frills of previous years, we think this ceremony may have been the best one yet.
Transitioning off-campus and returning home
Most of our students have already safely returned home, but due to various travel restrictions, a number of our students remain on campus. To help safeguard our students and faculty, our school instituted measures that were far more stringent than those imposed by the local and federal governments, including restricted access to our campus and establishing a dedicated quarantine facility in the event that any of our students or faculty were infected. Thankfully, no members of our community have tested positive for Covid-19.
Throughout this period, we have been closely following travel restrictions and have been working to safely return each of our students to their homes at the earliest opportunity.
Looking forward to the 2020-21 School Year
There are no changes to the planned 2020-21 school year calendar and we are already beginning preparations to welcome everyone to campus in August, especially our 80 new students. We can’t wait to see you in Karuizawa!
August 16-17 – Returning G11/G12 students arrive
August 19 – New international students arrival
August 20 – New students registration day
Special thanks to our Supporters
