10th Anniversary Campaign

Getting Ready for Final IB Examinations!

With May quickly approaching, our G-12 students are steadfastly focusing on their upcoming IB examinations which will take place from May 1 to May 16. To help everyone get prepared, we held mock exams at the end of the third quarter. Now, students are in the process of addressing any weak points that the mock exams identified and teachers are working with the G-12 students to hone their written examination skills. For some classes, the May examinations will be cumulatively worth up to 80% of their final IB grade.  Our goal is to ensure that the all of our students feel ready and able to demonstrate their skill and mastery of IB subjects in their exams.

Nearly 150,000 students at 2,487 schools worldwide are expected to take the IBDP examinations this May. What makes the IBDP unique is external assessment. Our students exams will be graded by teachers at other schools! External assessment is one of the unique aspects of the IBDP, and it helps to keep the DP standards equally high all over the world.

The ibo.org website explains it this way:

External assessment
Examinations form the basis of the assessment for most courses. This is because of their high levels of objectivity and reliability. They include:

  • essays
  • structured problems
  • short-response questions
  • data-response questions
  • text-response questions
  • case-study questions
  • multiple-choice questions – though these are rarely used.

Internal assessment
Teacher assessment is also used for most courses. This includes:

  • oral work in languages
  • fieldwork in geography
  • laboratory work in the sciences
  • investigations in mathematics
  • artistic performances.

We wish all of our G-12 students the best of luck with their upcoming exams!
