Support ISAK’s Project Nepal

“When I heard the news from my friend, I couldn’t help worrying; for a day or two, that was all I did. Then, I thought of how we could help; when I talked with the other Nepali students, they were of the same mindset and we started our project.”
– Karma, Nepali student, ISAK Class of 2017

One Life. Realize your potential. Be a catalyst for positive change.

When a devastating earthquake struck Nepal last week, our three Nepali students were heartbroken; but it didn’t take Karma, Sangita and Himanshu long to realize that they could make a difference. By using the guiding principals taught in ISAK’s leadership program, the students developed a solid, actionable plan based on what is most important, and then expanded their project to include the entire ISAK community.

Yesterday the students announced ISAK‘s ProjectNEPAL

ISAK Project Nepal

In an effort to make the project as impactful as possible, the students have launched a crowd-funding campaign at GoFundMe.

You can make a donation here.

ProjectNEPAL  has two main goals:

1. To provide help in rural areas in Nepal, because currently the urban areas are receiving much help and relief, but many of the rural areas have been rendered inaccessible do to the earthquake and these areas are in need of relief.

2. Longterm, to help restore affected places around the country, with a special focus on educational institutions and World Heritage sites.

The money raised will be sent to a group of monks from the Thrangu Monastery who are already working tirelessly to help people in rural areas. One of the monks is Karma’s brother. Right now, the students plan to focus on Sindhupalchok. This district is currently inaccessible because of the earthquake, landslides and floods. The plan is to use the money to hire helicopters to take supplies into the area and to transport injured people out who need immediate medical attention.

The students ask that even if you cannot actually donate money, to please share the donation page on all platforms that you can because “each and every contribution and share helps create happiness and peace in Nepal.”
